What is Porting?
Because your stock cylinder head is simply a piece of cast metal, it comes from the factory with a good enough design, but a very rough-edged finish. Porting is a hand done modification that develops horsepower by increasing the amount of air and fuel that can flow through the head by removing these imperfections and refinishing the surfaces.

A stock cylinder head contains many imperfections in both the rough edges and the rough surfaces due to the minimal detail of the casting process. This restricts flow through the head and leads to a build up of carbon (which also impedes flow and power).

We redesign the shape of the intake ports to allow for more flow without losing velocity. The surface is finished with a somewhat rough finish to increase the atomization of fuel and air from the carburetor.

We redesign the shape and surface of the exhaust ports so that the hot gasses can flow out as quickly as possible. Any hindrance to the flow is removed and the surface is polished to prevent a build up of carbon.
